Tenneville-Bad….in full forest !

The city of Tenneville is known for its crossing through the National 4 which, by the way, makes it so easily accessible, but it is much more than just this.

Walking along the country roads you will soon notice that this is a region that combines conviviality, enjoyment of simple things and exotic expanses of nature.Even if you take the time to walk on two ancestors of the famous N4, the Chaussée Marie-Thérèse or the old Roman road Metz-Tongres, the countryside appears as far as the eye can see… and the forest is never far away!

More than half of this area of the Forest of Saint-Hubert is covered with trees. Between the impressive forest of Freyr, the nature reserves or the viewpoints where you can observe fauna and flora, this is undoubtedly a region where time is taken to live the present moment.

the forest bathing destination in Belgium

Forest bathing (also known as “Shinrin Yoku“) means adopting a different way of being in the forest, a different way of walking… Enjoying the benefits of the trees and reconnecting with nature, but also (and above all?) with yourself.
Guided forest walks are organised all year round by the Tenneville Tourist Office. Guided by forest therapists, these are new experiences every time. Whether you prefer a rational approach or zenattitude, there are a number of options available.

And for those who’d rather discover this practice on their own, with its positive effects on body and mind, there are a number of routes available. In particular, Belgium’s first signposted discovery trail, A pas de loup (in the steps of the wolf).

Observation areas

In the Forest of Saint-Hubert, various adaptations have been made to allow the observation of nature, wildlife, etc. In these “timeless” places, which can be reached by various walks, tranquillity is particularly important…

The walking routes take you to the observation area of Les Amonys (walk n° 8, IGN map “Entre rivières et forêts”), the observation area of Bilaude (walk n° 7, IGN map “Entre rivières et forêts” / walk n° 4, IGN map “Au Pays de Saint-Hubert”) and to the Tour de Priesse (walk n° 7, IGN map “Entre rivières et forêts”). In the commune of Saint-Hubert, in the observation area of the Borne (walk n° 7 on the map “Au Pays de Saint-Hubert”).

Sentier didactique du Bois de la Fontaine

The Bois de la Fontaine
Located on the edge of the village of Laneuville-au-Bois, the Bois de la Fontaine is an oasis of greenery with a 1 km path running through it. It’s also known locally as the “ant trail”, in reference to the signposts you can follow once you’re there.
It’s the ideal route for a walk with the kids. A change of scenery guaranteed in the Deux Ourthes Nature Park!

What’s more, it’s designed to enable people with special needs to enjoy a rejuvenating moment in the woods.

La boulaie tourbeuse du Rouge Poncé

The Rouge Poncé peat bog
If the “Promenade de Mochamps” takes you as far as the Bilaude viewing area and the Tour de Priesse, its route also takes you close to the Rouge Poncé peat bog.
This is the second oldest state nature reserve in Wallonia (after the Hautes Fagnes).
It was granted this status in 1969 to ensure the conservation of an astonishing landscape of downy birch forest on peaty soil.
To immerse yourself in these trees, a one-kilometre-long duckboard is accessible (slippery in wet weather!). Guided tours are also available for groups, by appointment.
